Patricia Schaefer Röder emerges from the current circle of Latin American writers with the publication of thirty-four of her most appealing stories in the anthology "Yara y otras Historias". Her narrative does not just have the endorsement of national and international awards in Miami and Puerto Rico; it also brings years of studies on the human character and magic-religious traditions. Her travels have carried her to perceive many connections that she has to her land, and to rediscover the stories that she tells us today with special precision and literary clarity. Mythical and mundane characters cross roads that lead them to other realities. Thus, the narrative becomes a crucible that reflects strokes of our human condition and flashes of our beliefs, fears and desires.
