"Dennie" Moore (December 31, 1907 - February 22, 1978) was an American
film and stage actress.Moore was born in New York City on New Year's Eve
1907 to Jewish parents Oren Moore (January 12, 1883 - March 13, 1967), a
cantor at one of the local synagogues, and Gabriella Gefen (October 31,
1885 - November 19, 1954). In the late 1920s, she decided to pursue an
acting career on the Broadway stage and in preparation for that she
began going by the name Dennie Moore in order to prevent further
embarresment towards her parents as they weren't in favor of her career
choice. She began her career on the Broadway stage in 1927 starring in
such shows as A Lady in Love, The Trial of Mary Dugan, Cross Roads,
Torch Song, and Twentieth Century.
