Valley Boy tells the story of Ricky Edwards, a 17 year-old CIO (California Improved Okie) trapped in a soul-eating church and buried in small town Centerville, California for life.
To free himself from that heavy-duty church, Ricky rebels against God's word, plots out his future and gets a job debeaking turkeys. He debeaks turkeys because he needs a car. He needs a car because he wants to join the Lifters Car Club. But the big problem is that girls don't go out with guys who wear Frisco jeans and shoes with heel and toe taps. With his father--a skirt chaser--absent, Ricky finds direction in Mr W, his music teacher who guides Ricky out of the Valley by directing him to Berkeley.
