Don't Get into the Pot! by Debi K Stinson and Katy Chambers is a rhyming story with a pelican, a crawfish, and an oyster who cannot seem to stay away from trouble.
Pete the Pelican wakes up on the pier and sees the whole thing unfold. Mudbug and Ollie spot a shiny pot that looks way too interesting. Garlic, onions, bubbles, steam, even a spoon so bright it feels like treasure. They think hot tub, party, even an invite from the chef. Pete thinks disaster.
Every time they inch closer, Pete squawks out one loud warning:DON'T get into the pot!
They twitch, they wobble, they almost give in. The heat rises, the smell pulls them in, and the chef looks oh-so friendly. Still, Pete keeps shouting, and finally the message sticks.
The two scamper off to splash in a puddle instead. Pete fluffs his feathers, proud they chose safety over a boil.
This is a story that gets kids shouting along, giggling at blurp blurp bubbles, and learning a lesson without even realizing it.
