The Author has had a very successful long marriage, recently enjoying a golden wedding anniversary, and has two daughters and four grandchildren. The book begins and ends with a letter to the author's four grandchildren imploring them not to hero worship some of their ancestors, and not to live off these ancestors success and an explanation as to why their paternal grandmother spent the last 40 years of her early lovely life, but later traumas, as a Benedictine Nun.
