About this book
A sense of powerlessness and loss of control can be seen at anytime in children but often around times of change, after trauma, grief and loss, parent divorce or separation, or as a result of stress, anxiety, or the COVID-19 pandemic.
This children's book has been written by Melbourne based Psychologist, Sharon Turner, who has been working with children and adolescents for almost 25 years.
Rosie Finds Her Power aims to help remind children they do have choices to make and assists to open discussions with parents, family and friends, therapists and teachers about this. Development of coping skills and strategies to assist when things feel overwhelming helps to build a child's resilience and capacity to cope with life's difficulties. By choosing to focus on things they can control rather than those they cannot, it assists in building and supporting their emotional wellbeing.
Rosie has been beautifully brought to life by Olivia Siddaway. Olivia is an artist and visual educator who is dedicated to encouraging students to realise their true creative potential.
Parent Questions and Discussion Ideas are provided at the end of the book to guide discussions. This assists children to utilise the skill of being able to look for things in their day that they have control over and in doing so helps give them a sense of control in their world and things around them.
Perfect for ages 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 & up.
