Michael Smith was active in the Off-Off-Broadway theatre in New York as a playwright, director, producer, and critic in the 1960s and continued his work in theatre in California and Oregon. He is the author of more than twenty plays and an inveterate amateur pianist and poet. He lives on a small farm in the Willamette Valley with his wife, Carol Storke, horses, chickens, and cats.
